Expected pay for this position is $55.20 - $63.65/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity. This is a Salaried position.

JOB SPECIFICS
Position Summary: The Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgery APP supports the Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgery team in providing comprehensive care to patients across the continuum—from inpatient consultation and surgical management to ambulatory post-operative follow-up. The APP functions as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ambulatory / Outpatient Responsibilities:
Conduct independent post-operative and follow-up visits in the clinic setting under the supervision of the attending foot and ankle surgeon.
Evaluate wound healing, remove sutures/staples, manage dressings and casts, and adjust orthoses or immobilization devices as needed.
Assess pain control, neurovascular status, and functional progress; provide patient education regarding activity advancement, rehabilitation protocols, and return-to-work timelines.
Order and interpret imaging or laboratory studies as clinically indicated.
Communicate clinical findings and updates to the attending surgeon and care team to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in resident education in the post operative care setting.
Inpatient / Hospital Responsibilities:
Perform inpatient consults for foot and ankle injuries and conditions, including fracture care, diabetic foot pathology, and post-surgical management.
Assist in daily rounds, perform physical examinations, and document progress notes in the EMR.
Initiate and coordinate multidisciplinary care, including physical therapy, wound care, infectious disease, and discharge planning.
Respond to consult requests in a timely manner and present findings and recommendations to the supervising surgeon.
Perform and assist with bedside procedures such as wound debridement, dressing changes, and splint/cast applications.
Participate in resident education in the inpatient setting.

Clinical base hourly pay range for this position: $55.20-63.65 hr. This is a salaried position.
Range shown should be used as an estimate and can be impacted by many factors including but not limited to the critical need of the position, overall experience and qualifications, community need, and other considerations. Additional compensation components may be applicable such as bonuses or incentives which may or may not be based on metric achievement.

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree or higher in nursing as an AGACNP or physician assistant studies from an accredited program
Current Illinois license as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant
Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
Minimum of two years of experience as an APP in podiatry or a related field is preferred
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications
Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care aligned to the preferences, goals, and needs of the patients served
